  1. Each individual may set up one forum identity only.

  2. When registering on the forum, you will need to choose a username. Please refrain from using anything that may be easily confused with other members or people, or use any  identifier that may be regarded as obscene, offensive or insulting.

  3. Usernames may contain letters, numbers, hyphens, e-mail addresses  underscores and spaces only.  

  Message Posting

  1. Please try to post your message in the right section. If you are unsure which section to use, look at pre posted messages in the sections for guidance.

  2. When starting a new thread please use clear and meaningful subject titles.

  3. Ensure that any post is relevant to the title of the thread that it is posted in and to the ongoing discussion within the thread.  Off-topic posts will to be deleted by the moderator.

  4. Posters must refrain from using vulgar and offensive language.  Please bear in mind that  forum membership may comprise of children to senior citizens, so always use appropriate language whilst additionally avoiding commentry that may be regarded as insulting to members of different race, gender, lifestyle, sexuality, creed and political leaning.

  5. This is a public forum and posters are legally responsible for their own words and for any action that may result from their comments.  Posters must avoid defamatory remarks that refer to identifiable individuals, organisations or companies.

  6. In the event of defamatory material being posted, in accordance with the Defamation (Operators of websites) Regulations 2013, Mullard Magic will provide any details held on the poster to the requesting authority and will co-operate fully with any complainant to allow the defamer to be held accountable for their actions. 

  Buying and Selling

  1. Any item offered for sale in the forum must include an exact price, and the vendor muar indicate whether or not the vendor is prepared to post the item and what the carriage charge along with any handling charge will be.

  2. Messages offering/requesting swaps are permitted.

  3. Vendors may only offer items for direct sale. The posting of items for sale on eBay is forbidden.

  4. Replies from prospective purchasers or other respondants must be made within the forum or via the forum Private Message system.  The facility exists for e-mail responses to be chosen to advise of forum responses.

  5. Commercial advertising and spamming is forbidden.

  Private Messages and Emails

  1. The ability to send Private Messages (PMs) and emails to other members will be enabled upon registration as a Mullard Magic customer.

  2. The Private Message system is intended for private follow-up correspondence as a result of forum threads. It is not intended as an alternative to using the forum itself. Nor is it an alternative to email for ongoing discussions unrelated to the forum. Excessive use of the Private Messages system whilst making few or no posts in the forums is unacceptable and will  result in warnings and possibly a forum ban.

  3. The contents of Private Messages, whilst generally regarded as private, may be accessed and read by the forum administrators in exceptional circumstances.

  Prohibited Discussions, Sales and Wants

  1. Equipment or information that cannot be used legally in the UK by the general public or a licenced radio amateur must not be bought, sold or discussed within  the forum. The moderator will delete any posts relating to equipment or information falling into this category. Examples include (but are not limited to) broadcast transmitters, unapproved CB equipment, mobile phone jammers, GPS jammers, speed camera jammers, bugging equpment, circumvention of copy protection systems and pirated/cracked software.

  2. For the forum, broadcast transmitters are defined as those having an output in excess of 100mW e.i.r.p. on any waveband currently or previously used for radio or television broadcasting. Most 'Gizmo' and 'iTrip' type units intended to enable transmission over a few metres are less than this threshold. 


  1. Postings on this forum are displayed on a public website. A poster's text will be available to anyone with an internet connection. Even if deleted from this forum, such text may have been cached by search engines and web-archive sites, or someone may have saved or printed it.

  2. This is a discussion forum and as such, Posters must expect people to reply in the forum, and hence be prepared to check back periodically to read any replies.

  3. Any messages that do not comply with these rules or which are deemed to be inappropriate by a moderator will be edited, moved or deleted at the moderator's sole discretion.

  4. Any poster acting in violation of any of these rules may receive, at the moderators sole discretion a warning or forum ban.

  5. Posters will be banned for persistent inappropriate posting, spamming, abusive remarks towards the moderators or other members, or any other action deemed to cause disrupion to the normal running of the forum.

  6. In all cases the decision of the moderators is final.

  7. The forum rules may be changed periodically. An announcement will be posted in the forum if this happens. By continuing to use the forum after such notice is posted, you are confirming that you agree to comply with the revised rules.

Vintage electrical/electronic equipment may use or produce dangerous high voltages and may contain components running at hazardous temperatures. Great care must always be taken when working on such equipment, especially when it is powered and shortly after it has been powered down.  Messages in this forum may discuss carrying out tests on live equipment, but do not give specific safety warnings. The absence of such warnings does NOT imply that the action is safe. Warnings have simply been omitted to avoid repetition and to keep the meaning of the description concise. Live equipment is always dangerous. If you are in any way unsure about your ability to work with vintage electrical/electronic equipment safely, please refer the work to a qualified and experienced engineer.

» Why am I unable to register?

It is possible that Mullard Magic administration has banned your IP address or disallowed the username you are attempting to register.  Mullard Magic administration may have alternatively disabled registration to prevent new visitors from signing up.  Contact the moderator for further advice and assistance. 

 » How do I post a topic in a forum?

You must register as a Mullard Magic customer before you are given forum posting priveleges. message.  A list of a user's permissions for each forum is available at the top of the forum and topic screens.  Instructions on how to post are placed on the forum welcome page but in the event of difficulty please get in touch with a moderator.

  » Why did I receive a warning?

This forum has it's own set of rules for their site. If you the poster have broken a rule, you may be issued a warning.  Contact the moderator if you are unsure about why you were issued a warning.

 » Who do I contact about abusive and/or legal matters related to this forum?

The moderator should be an appropriate point of contact for your complaints. If this still gets no response then you should contact the owner of the domain (do a whois lookup) or, if this is running on a free service (e.g. Yahoo!,,, etc.), the management or abuse department of that service.
